Selena de Carvalho is an inter-disciplinary artist, designer, maker and risk taker of settler, refugee and migrant heritage based in lutruwita/Tasmania. Selena purposefully connects creativity and activism, amplifying the ecological imagination through the practice of relational ethos.

Selena’s creative attention braids numerous mediums including participatory installation, performance, workshops, sculpture, time-based media, urban hacking, print media and text.

Selena’s work has received numerous awards, grants and residencies and she remains thankful for the enabling support. In 2022, Selena completed her PhD, Entangled Solidarity, and built a mobile sauna as a contemporary ritual for wellbeing.

The Unconformity acknowledges the palawa people as the original and traditional custodians of lutruwita/Tasmania. We commit to working respectfully to honour their ongoing cultural and spiritual connections to this land.
