Emma Bugg is an artist whose passion lies in exploring materials and hidden codes. Through her jewellery practice, she delves into the art of storytelling and the serendipitous connection.

In 2021, Emma bought an old church in Queenstown. She was drawn in by the unique landscape and the energy of the town. Through visiting the library, Emma discovered a fascinating story about a historic necklace that belonged to Marion Sticht of the Penghana homestead. For The Unconformity 2023 festival, she is responding to this by creating a necklace that tells the story of people and places in Queenstown in 2023, as a gift to present and future generations.

The Unconformity acknowledges the palawa people as the original and traditional custodians of lutruwita/Tasmania. We commit to working respectfully to honour their ongoing cultural and spiritual connections to this land.
