Renate van Riet is a textile artist creating pieces from recycled fabric, beads, buttons and found objects.

For The Unconformity 2023 Art Trail, she has helped to create a collaborative wall piece with two other local textile artists, Billie Lee Martin and Jude Devereaux. Her craft background is that of spinning, dyeing, weaving and free-form embroidery as well as random stitching. Her components for this piece are inspired by the local flora, fauna and the mining remnants of the past on the West Coast of lutruwita/Tasmania.

The Unconformity acknowledges the palawa people as the original and traditional custodians of lutruwita/Tasmania. We commit to working respectfully to honour their ongoing cultural and spiritual connections to this land.
