Born in 1984, James Wright is an artist and filmmaker based in Naarm/Melbourne. His work attends to the material practices of the anthropogenic landscape assemblage. The particularities of these polyvalent sites are rendered sensible towards an account of an ecological condition.

James is currently producing a new major work, Caesura, co-funded by Creative Victoria and City of Melbourne and collaborating with speculative architect, Matthew Bird, on new projects in the Wimmera region of Victoria. In 2019, his work Outfall – traversing Victoria's Western Treatment Plant – was exhibited in NGV Design Week. He is also the director of NON Studio, producing moving image works with leading Australian artists.

The Unconformity acknowledges the palawa people as the original and traditional custodians of lutruwita/Tasmania. We commit to working respectfully to honour their ongoing cultural and spiritual connections to this land.
